Independent and quick results

Suspecting problems or defects regarding welding work or just looking for some assurance? Then the first thing we often do is conduct a visual inspection. And it is here where our extensive know-how and experience proves to be quite useful. Without any equipment we inspect welding work just with the naked eye, in order to detect any visible defects. This is done on-site, after which we recommend possible follow-up testing.

Advantages of Visual Testing

Visual Testing provides quick results and is a fairly easy way to determine the measurements of a weld. For instance if you want to check if welding work is in line with drawings. Visual Inspection is also a quick tool to determine corrosion as well possible erosion levels in pipes or pressure vessels.

Offering independent assessment, our Visual Inspection also allows you to prove whether delivered work meets standards, legislation and client specifications. This obviously also applies to all other types of Non-Destructive Testing we can conduct for you.

How does Visual Testing work?

There are basically two types of Visual Testing. The first type – direct Visual Testing – involves a tester physically examining welding work and subsequently assessing – if necessary with some tools – its quality. These tools can for instance be a calliper, torch or weld gauge. The other type is indirect Visual Testing, also called remote visual inspection. This is often implemented when an inspection involves entering a confined space such as pipelines or pressure vessels. In these cases we use a borescope or a video scope.

Visual Inspection is applicable in both new as well as existing constructions – before, during or after welding.
